Night of the Living Dead 3-D (2006)

Director:  Jeff Broadstreet

PLOT: In this 3-D chiller, Barb and her brother John arrive late for the burial of their aunt and walk straight into a nightmare. With zombies on her heels, Barb flees the cemetery and is rescued by Ben, a local college student. The two seek refuge in the nearby farmhouse of the Cooper family, where the laid-back aren’t remotely prepared to have their lives turned into a horror movie. But Barb is destined for an even grimmer confrontation – with the dark secret of the pyrophobic  mortician, Gerald Tovar, Jr. THIS IS A NEW MOTION PICTURE FILMED IN 3D THAT IS A RE-IMAGINING OF THE 1968 PUBLIC DOMAIN PICTURE "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD." GEORGE A. ROMERO IS NOT AFFILIATED IN ANY WAY WITH THIS NEW FILM.

UGLY MOLLY RATING:
Seven Brains

It is important to remember that this is NOT done by Romero and try not to hold it to those standards when you watch this one. It must be enjoyed for what it is. The Zombie effects of this movie are far better than most of the low budget movies out there…At least this director has money to spend and knew what to do with it. The zombies are well done and had a fairly rotted look to them. While the overall acting could be cheesy, Sid Haig is always fun to watch on the screen. The movie is taken indoors, so it gets that scary claustrophobic feel, but it lost the opportunity to have some nice background depth shots. If you do not try to compare it exactly to the original, it is a very enjoyable movie. When you compare it to Swamp Zombies or Dead Clowns, this is the zombie equivalent of the Mona Lisa.

Budget: $750,000
Gross: $215,300
